Jag kör en liten update här om vad som händer på den Brittiska ön. Efter en problematisk början i Los Angeles där det var oklart om flyget till London skulle avgå eller inte, så kom vi efter drygt en timmas försening iväg. Efter att ha varit på resande fot i drygt 20 timmars tid med bussresor och väntetider beffiner jag mig till slut i London. Då jag fortfarande har 4 timmars väntan innan mitt plan “avgår” spenderar jag tiden med att avakta på flygplatsen. Planet var tänkt att avåg klockan 18.40 Engelsk tid, motsvarande 19.40 Svensk tid. Två timmar innan avgång får jag reda på att planet är inställt. Jag och två andra Svenskar försöker då som många tusen andra resenärer tas oss in till incheckningen för att prata med vårat flygbolag och se vad vi kan göra. I dörren till terminal tre (international flights) står det vakter och kollar boardingpassen. De som har inställda flyg (drygt 50% av alla avgångar) är inte välkommna in i byggnaden. Detta innebär att man inte kan komma i kontakt med flygboakget som heller inte har några representanter utanför byggnaden för att meddela vad som händer. Istället tar jag till telefonen och ringer först hem för att få flygbolagets nummer…. “du är nummer 148 i vänte listan”, detta blir mitt besked och jag ger snabbt upp. Jag lyckas koppla upp mig på “gud alla våvas älskade internet”. Via mirakel nummer två, det vill säga skype har jag kontakt med farsan. Via en suport chatt på SAS hemsida så kan man få information om flygen. Då det får min reservation code hänvisar det till resebolaget jag bokat med. Kilroy i detta fall. Problemet nu är att klockan har blivit efter 18.00, och då inte än människa reser efter kontorstid så finns det såklart ingen att kontakta. Istället skickar jag ett mail till dem och förklarar min situation. Några sekunder senare så får jag ett auto svar som lyder:FOR REQUESTS REGARDING FLIGHT DISRUPTIONS DUE TO THE BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS EUROPE, PLEASE CONTACT THE AIRLINES THAT ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR FINDING ALTERNATIVE FLIGHTS.
Tillbaka på ruta ett. Då ingen info längre finns att få vet jag inte riktigt längre vad jag skall göra. Då loggar Johnny in på skype. Johny eller Jonathan Reading som är en gammal polare som jag bodde med i Costa Rica under en månads tid bor i London. Efter några raders skype chatt är det bestämt. Johnny plockar 30 minuter senare upp från den kris drabbade London flygplatsen och efter yterligare 30 minuter så sitter jag hemma hos Johnny’s familj med en pizza och en budweiser i handen. Bra med lite connections ibland verkar det som. Sorlig som jag är ligger jag nu och bloggar klockan 05.00 i inväntan på att telefontider skall öppnas. Om någon timma så kommer jag om inte hela världen har dratt söder ut, vet vad som händer. Om allt skiter sig helt och det blir ytterligare fördröjningar så skall jag och Johnny ut och köra lite snowboard här. Inte alla dagar man kan åka snowboard i London så det måste ju testas.

Lite snabb bild info. Det är Adrians huvud som sticker in i bilden och sedan är det jag och Johnny i sängen (låter lite konstigt kanske men men…). Detta är efter Johnny har bott en till två veckor på hostlet och han har fortfarande inte fått tummen ur att bädda sängen. Vad jag och Adrian gör är att försöka väcka Johnny så han kan följa med och ta lite surf bilder på oss. Tro dock inte vi lyckades om jag inte misstar mig.
